I have lived my life in hope
that someday I might see
the one we were told
come to save you and me

Then the day came when I
met the teacher I was sure
was the one prophesied
so strong and so pure

And I waited there at the foot of the cross
when he passed away all my hope was lost

And I waited there at the foot of the cross
never thinking about ever counting the cost
my heart beats as never before
but I know I must go to seek him once more

Then I heard the altar call
like the ones I’ve ignored
and I got to my feet
like I never did before

Then I joined hands with those
who had come down with me
and I spoke out the words
that would set me free

And then the Saviour called out my name
