I wrote this when a friend of my son's came to our door crying. He told me his mom had left on Sunday.
any feedback.
Thanks Rick… I am fortunate to have a friend in Tim Crouch. Tim is a multi-instrumentalist HOSS who has quite a resume. Tim lives in Batesville, AR and does recording i his studio.
Tim is great in that I can record something on my iPhone, email it to Tim…and Waa-Lah. He loves working with folks.
The vocals,mixing,mastering..etc… were then done by my nephew, Andy Wallis, in his studio. Andy is now also with a studio in Conway,AR (Fretmonkey Records). Andy and Tim together are a great team. Thanks again ...

I think they could probably get a lot of work doing songwriter demos. This mix sounds better than a lot of professional demos I’ve heard. The lyrics are nicely done as well. Thanks for sharing.

He cries and kicks an old tin can
Walkin' down the road
He's shoulderin' a heavy load
For only ten years old
He thinks that he's done somethin' wrong
Don't know what it is
All he knows is Mama left last Sunday
And ain't been home again
Dad sips on his coffee
And he lights a cigarette
He stares out at the road
A hopin' maybe she'll come back
He meant to say 'I love you'
You are my closest friend
Before she packed her bag and left last Sunday
And ain't been home again
Oh the casualties of love these days
Are lying everywhere
The young and old, the weak and strong
Are crying in despair
And they're searching for the answers
But they don't come anywhere
Oh the casualties of love these days
Are lying everywhere
She wakes up in her mother's house
The tears run down her face
She grieves the heartache that she's made
But had to go someplace
She's torn between her promise
And a chance for happiness
So she packed her bag and left last Sunday
And ain't been home again
Oh the casualties of love these days
Are lying everywhere
The young and old, the weak and strong
Are crying in despair
And they're searching for the answers
But they don't come anywhere
Oh the casualties of love these days
Are lying everywhere
Oh the casualties of love these days
Are lying everywhere

Beautiful sounding demo, Bob. Although a really sad song, it’s well written lyrically and melodically, and just a really impressive sounding recording. Sounds like master/radio quality. It’s got a Colin Raye sound to it. Nice job. Would be interested where this was recorded. Thanks for sharing.
