About This Song

Written to perform with my two daughters, Ribbons on a Kite is about a woman who feels judged by family and friends for living a nomadic lifestyle and not settling for social norms. This is for all of the wanderers.

Hi, Traci!  Welcome to SWPro!  Thanks for sharing your music with us.  Very confessional.  Cool.  Would love to see the lyrics included on your next song.  Cool title- the image sticks in my mind, and it makes me wonder what it’s about.

Hello Traci!

I enjoyed your music! When that title, I just had to open your site and hear it! I’m so glad I did because I wouldn’t have wanted to miss it!  I found myself relating to your lyrics!  I must truly be an ‘old soul’ because I could always envision myself exploring distant, even exotic places around the world..“my address is in the sand”...In reality, though my soul is nomadic,my heart is quite content blooming right here where we are, and we loved your song!!

Ribbons on a Kite

Ribbons on a Kite Traci De Leon

Sister you know they’re jealous of your freedom
They’ll never show their love for how you roam
All they can do is quietly resent you
For being brave enough to leave your home
Ohhhhh

You travel to the farthest end of oceans
Two spiritual lovers holding hands
Because you’ve learned your home is where your love is
Your permanent address is in the sand

Their silence is your signal
They mean to cause you shame
You love them from a distance
Because nothing stays the same
And even though the tide
Will bring you back from time to time
They watch you fly away again like ribbons on a kite.

Ohhhhh

History 's shown there's mystery in travel
How well you know the misery in not
Following the open path before you
And pushing down their fear of being lost

Their silence is your signal
They mean to cause you shame
You love them from a distance
Because nothing stays the same
And even though the tide
Will bring you back from time to time
They watch you fly away again like ribbons on a kite.
They watch you fly away again like ribbons on a kite.
