Growing up my Grand-Pa would put on his old hat and take a walk in the woods behind our house every afternoon so I ask him why one day and he said it gave a man time to pray,so years latter thinking about that I wrote this song.
Would appreciate feedback on the song it's self-thanks feedback is as always welcome!

(INTRO)
Grand-Pa put on his old Stetson hat
And walked thru the woods every afternoon
Where he'd sit on an old hickory stump
And twist him up a cigarette or two
He loved to watch the squirrels play
Said afternoon was his favorite time of day
Told me once the solitude in the woods
Gave a man time to pray
And now as I walk down this old path
Thru the woods behind his house
Just as he did so many times
The smell of honeysuckles in the air
Well a peacefulness came over me
In the silence of my thoughts out here
And in the stillness of the woods
I've found the words my songs were looking for
Where that gentle breeze thru the trees
Carry your prayers Gods way
(SHORT-INST)
And on the ground beneath my feet
Lays a blanket of leaves
As my thoughts turn to loved ones gone
Just like that butterfly in the wind
Where that gentle breeze blows
You can see new life begin
In the woods there's a world
Where the cycle of life never ends
Trees give us warmth in winter
And shade from the summer sun
Springtime in the woods
Give us the birds songs again
While the fragrance of wild flowers
Ride the wind across the fields
It's kinda like natures church
Lord you can feel your presence here
Where that gentle breeze thru the trees
Carry your prayers Gods way
In the solitude of the woods
Hearts can heal
To the music nature plays
For your soul to hear
Underneath the trees
Where that gentle breeze blows
(INST)
Underneath the trees
Where that gentle breeze blows
(INST-FADE)

Hi Stephen, nice song and story telling. Your voice and style reminds a me a bit to Steve Earle who is one of my favorites in the Americana genre.
