Hi, Tre!  Merry Christmas and thanks for sharing your song with us.  I like that it’s a romantic holiday duet, positive, and has some tempo to it.

However, I don’t get a real memorable hook/title from it.  I was waiting for “On Ember” to show up… but it didn’t.  What will the listener search for on Spotify, iTunes, etc. if they want to hear it again but didn’t already know the title?  “Just how we like?”  Maybe…

The more I learn it seems there really aren’t any rules. I’m finding it’s predominately Country music who’s songwriting rules are the most rigid. Moving forward, with the songs that I’d hope to pitch to Country artist I plan to follow those rules to a tee as I’m going to do with a re-write of my recent upload, December 24th (One Night). With “A Lovers Christmas” since it’s more in the pop / novelty arena I just wanted to provide a fun Holiday environment.

The one advantage we as songwriters have now with streaming is when a person discovers a song for the first time the title is usually readily available. Terrestial radio, if I’m lucky, is where I’ll have a problem lol. Thanks again for noticing Buddy I really appreciate it! . Regards, Tre

Hi Tre, Very nice song! I like the melody, your female vocalist’s voice, and the interplay with the male vocalist. Very nice vibe and feel, geat melody and lyrics, great arrangement for the song.

I would agree with Brent regarding the title of your main hook. “Just How We Like,” seems more like the main hook to me, based on the way you repeat it, and the message of the song.

If I had a do over maybe I’d consider renaming it Christmas (How we like) or something to that effect just to make it easier on the listener.
