About This Song

My neighbors "Hank and Naureen" were lovely. They were in their late 80's - one day after coming back from vacation I saw Naureen in the yard and asked her what Hank was up to. She told me had passed away a few days earlier. I was so sad and I wrote "With You" as I imagined what Naureen would be going through. I played her the song when it was finished and she really loved it which made my day.

Feedback Requested

I know there is no market for a song like this -but I needed to write it -I am guessing all songwriters have songs like this.

Wow. You could have sung the abc’s and it wouldn’t have sounded any less touching. Beautiful song, and beautiful voice, Mikalyn. As far as the market for the song, sometimes a song just helps us or someone else process an emotion, especially grief, and that aspect is what ends up being its commercial value. I wrote a song about my Dad after he passed away six years ago, a song I would probably never pitch to any publisher, but I wrote it for myself and my family, and felt like that was it’s value. You’re a talented writer and singer, Mikalyn. Thanks for sharing this song.

Verse 1

Calling your name
When no ones around
There isn't much but an echoing sound
and I know
I need to let you go

Spiriling thoughts
Drift in my mind
Staring at nothing for hours at a time
and I know
I need to let you go

PreChorus
But now that you're gone
I realize how much I need you
and I know that you're not here
but I swear that I can see you
And alone in an empty room
I feel like I am there with you

Chorus
I swear I'm trying to push on through
But everything revolves around you
I hear the things you used to say
and it all comes rushing back to me
your smile, your touch, the memories
the love you only shared with me
and me with you
with you

Verse 2
Days pass on by
Its still very hard
It's like you're here pulling on the strings
of my heart and I know
I need to let you go

Packing your things
I need them all gone
Everytime that I see them I
stop moving on and I know
I need to let you go

Pre-Chorus

Chorus
I swear I'm trying to push on through
But everything revolves around you
I hear the things you used to say
and it all comes rushing back to me
your smell, your touch, the memories
the love you only shared with me
and me with you
with you
and as I try to push on through
Everything still revolves around you
And as i do things you love I feel you with me
from above
your smile, your laugh, the memories
the love you only shared with me
and me with you
with you

Outro
Calling your name,
I feel you around
and something in that echoing sound,
lets me know
I'll never be alone
