About This Song

A disturbing little song in the tradition of Lyle Lovett's 'Pontiac' or Randy Newman's 'In Germany Before the War,' but written in a major key.

Feedback Requested

This seems a little more topical now than it did back when I wrote it in 2015. I don't really like to write 'topic of the week' songs -- I just like to tell stories.

Oh, well...

Hi Kyle - Lyrically another peace of art what makes me feel small! Great stuff!

Rosalita, leave the lights on when you go
Rosalita, leave me a little coffee on the stove
Rosalita, feels like I'm gonna be awake a while
Why don't you leave me a tasty little sandwich setting out on the kitchen counter tile
Just a tasty little something to tide me over for a while

Rosalita, I need a little this or that
Rosalita, did you remember to feed the cat
Rosalita, who spilled their beer here on the floor
Rosalita, these ain't clean yet, you'll wanna scrub them some more

I smell something smelly in the bathroom
Seen a spider on my wall
Think things be nesting in the attic
Heard one scurry down the hall
You know the yard it's all a tangle
Can't have all them creepers be creeping in
Rosalita, Rosalita
Make it all be right again

Rosalita, where'd all this hair come from in my sink
Rosalita, think I had a little accident in my sleep
Rosalita, you sure it ain't time yet for another pill
Rosalita, crank the heat up, I got just a smidgen of a chill

I need a little sugar for my sweet tooth
Need you to scratch a wee bit higher
I need some whiskey for these ice cubes
Need some tinder for my fire
Need the shades drawn, need the doors locked
'Fore the dark starts creeping in
Rosalita, Rosalita
Make it all be right again

Rosalita, you work so hard to please me so
Rosalita, you should take a little break before you go
Rosalita, slip them shoes off, come keep me company for a while
Won't have to do nothing but lie there and smile

There's something stinky in the bathroom
Seen a spider on my wall
Think things be lurking in the attic
Heard 'em scurry down the hall
You know the yard's all in a tangle
The creepers are creeping in
Rosalita, Rosalita
Make it all be right again

Rosalita, leave the lights on when you go
Rosalita, leave me a little coffee on the stove
Rosalita, looks like I'm gonna be up for a while
Why don't you make me a tasty little sandwich, leave it on the kitchen counter tile
Gonna need me a tasty little something here in another little while
