Influences
For the last ten years Country is what I have listened to most. I particularly like Thomas Rhett, Cody Johnson, Tim McGraw, Willie Nelson. But in my 20's and 30's I loved Motown, especially Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Teddy Pendergrass. I also loved the old groups like The Beatles (of course), The Beach Boys, and the Bee Gees among others as well as the romantic pop music of artists like Barry Manilow, Neil Diamond, Linda Ronstandt, Olivia Newton John. I just love music. There are some great Christian artists from the old Imperials, Love Song, to Big Daddy Weave,,Danny Gokey, Chris Tomlin and so many more. I really am not just name dropping. These and so many more have made an impact of me and influenced me at various times in my life. After watching Songland I relate to Shane Macanally. Each time he was crying so was I. Each time he got goosebumps so did I. I loved how he listened to a song and heard the beauty in a melody or the clever turn of a phrase that impacted him emotionally. When I grow up I want to be like him. OK, I will stop now.
