* Starting in the early 2000's streaming caused a major slide to happen. Where there were once around 4000 songwriters with publishing deals in Nashville. A few years later, that number was down to 400. But that number is on the rise again.
* When you hear a song, there are actually TWO copyrights. One is for the song itself, and one is for the recording of that song.
* The Music Modernization Act is the most significant win for songwriters in probably 100 years.
* Songwriters do NOT get to set our own prices. The government sets our price, and until the MMA was passed, they couldn't even legally take free market pricing into account when setting our pay.
* Songwriters are getting a pay raise thanks to the Music Modernization Act.
