1. : What’s It Gonna Take
Writers: Andy Albert, Eric Aukstikalnis, Nick Bailey, Aaron Gillespie, Kyle Fishman, Mitchell Tenpenny
Duration: 2:57
Key: F Major
Tempo: 83 BPM
Subject: In this song Tenpenny wonders “what’s it gonna take,” to get over his ex partner ands to move on?
Music: Ambient peddle steel, acoustic guitar, reverbed vocals, and electric synths. Big juxtaposition between the verses and the choruses. The synth sounds really build up the choruses. So does the beat that comes in.
Notes: Very interesting production on a country song.
Single: : Don’t Lose Heart (Stephen Curtis Chapman and Mitchell Tenpenny)
Released: February 17, 2023
Producers: Steven Curtis Chapman, Bryan Fowler, Micah Kuiper
℗ 2023 Provident Label Group LLC, a unit of Sony Music Entertainment
1. : Don’t Lose Heart
Writers: Bryan Fowler, Micah Kuiper, Steven Curtis Chapman
Duration: 3:31
Key: F Major
Tempo: 113 BPM
Subject: This is an encouraging song about keeping faith in God through the “dark” and the “hard” moments in life.
Music: Upbeat song that matches the positivity of the lyrics. Acoustic guitar, drums, and synth pads make up the song. The choruses get pretty big production wise with claps, harmonies, synths, bass, electric guitar, and more. Bridge cuts back and then builds back up for a grand last chorus.
Notes: I would’ve never thought to pair these two together.
