Album Trends: Maisie writes on every song but works with a variety of co-writers as well as producers. She really enjoys the keys of D Major and E Major. The album is a classic pop breakup album with some experimental elements and has a mix of upbeat songs and slower songs. Production is pretty heavy and polished but the lyrics remain the central point of every song. Maisie makes a lot of references to Witch themes, such as candles, blood, chants, and more. There are also a lot of vocal effects used throughout the songs that give them color. *Maisie also seems to like a slower bridge into a big final chorus.
Track Listing
1. : The Good Witch
Writers: Joe Rubel, Maisie Peters
Duration: 2:37
Key: D Major
Tempo: 115 BPM
Subject: This is a reflective update on Maisie’s life in which she directly references herself as the title of the album, a “good witch.” It directly addresses both her audience as well as a previous love interest.
Music: It begins with reverbed piano. The song quickly builds with a repetitive drum beat, harmonies, strings, and pad sounds that create an atmospheric vibe.
Notes: This song sounds like it can be both an intro to the album but also an outro. It gets the listener excited for what’s to come but also sounds very reflective, as if the album is a story being told by Maisie.
