Luke Grimes

Website: https://lukegrimemusic.com

Album: Luke Grimes
Released: March 8, 2024
Producers: Dave Cobb,
A Range Media/Mercury Nashville Release
© 2024 UMG Recordings, Inc.
℗ 2024 UMG Recordings, Inc.

Album Trends: The songs on the album are all pretty acoustic, made up of acoustic guitar, simple drums and bass guitar, and pedal steel which makes the album pretty cohesive. It is generally a pretty mellow album. Most of the songs are about love or a partner, both positively and negatively. All of the songs have noticeably little compression as well as minimal effects on Grimes’ vocals. This makes the performances sound more intimate and almost live.

1. : Burn
Writers: Randy Montana, Josh Thompson, Luke Grimes
Duration: 3:20
Key: D Minor
Tempo: 124 BPM
Subject: Grimes uses the metaphor of fire to represent the end of his relationship. He speaks to his partner telling her that if she wants to leave just to do it and leave him and the relationship to “burn.”
Music: Acoustic guitar, a simple drum beat, and Grimes’ reverbed vocals. The choruses are build up only a bit more than the choruses with more filled in acoustic guitar and drums as well as some pedal steel.
Notes: The postchorus has an interesting intensity to it. It is the height of the song.

2. : Playin’ On The Tracks
Writers: Brent Cobb, Luke Grimes
Duration: 2:39
Key: G Major
Tempo: 74 BPM
Subject: Grimes discusses how he runs from his problems instead of dealing with them. He expresses how he thinks this state of being is immature by painting himself as a child who is “playin’ on the tracks,” and will “never grow up.”
Music: Rhythmic acoustic guitar and a simple bass line accompany Grimes through the first verse. The first chorus introduces a simple drum beat as well that carries through the rest of the song. There is what sounds like a pedal steel solo after the second chorus.
Notes: Harmonies are added into different parts of the song that add an eerieness to it.
